📰History
The Shenbao Building was built in 1916 and officially completed and put into use in 1918. It is the original newspaper building of Shenbao, the longest-running and most influential newspaper in modern China. The application hall building faces south and faces north, with the main entrance located northeast of the corner of Hankou Road. It is a modern European-style building with a neoclassical decorative style. The whole building is divided into five floors and has more than 100 rooms. After declaring to cease publication on May 27, 1949, the building was transferred to the Liberation Daily. The building is listed as an outstanding modern architectural protection unit in Shanghai.
☕️Currently:
The once famous declaration hall
It is also the filming location for the TV series “Love in the Rain” and the place where He Shuhuan works. Now it has been transformed into a coffee and western restaurant The hall is very high, the dome retains exquisite European-style reliefs, and the walls are hung with declared historical journals and old photos.
What is surprising is the atrium of the building hidden on the second floor. When you look up, you feel like you have traveled a hundred years ago.
Consumption:
Coffee is about 38rmb/cup
The service is very timely
There are not many people in the afternoon on weekends, so it can be said to be quiet, but there seem to be more uncles and aunties in Shanghai.
